Production and racing motorcycles, solo and sidecar, ranging from 125cc to the 1300cc large-engined machines, will compete in the 19 races scheduled for this big club meeting on Saturday. There are no grandstands at Mallory Park, but the natural amphitheatre allows views of the entire circuit from most points, including the lake, the hairpin bend and the breathtaking Gerard's bend, one of the fastest in the country, which the bigger machines will pass at 90 to 100mph. There is a fancy-dress prize for the competitors and many of the riders will comply by wearing costumes over their leathers, the winner receiving a plum pudding.

How to get there: Mallory Park is off the A47 at Kirkby Mallory, Leicestershire. Admission is pounds 6 adults, accompanied children are free. Practice starts at 9.30am and the first race is at 11am, the even closes at 4pm. (Tel: 0455-842931).
