Scotland's Peter Nicol became the first man to successfully defend the Mahindra International title when he beat Australia's world No 2, Rodney Eyles, in Bombay on Saturday. Nicol, the world No 3, won 13-15 15-10 7-15 17-15 15-13 in a thrilling 89-minute final. The 23-year-old Scot was 2-1 down in games and 4-10 behind in the fourth but fought back to clinch the pounds 11,000 prize.
