The International Olympic Committee are to investigate the case of British swimmer Nick Gillingham, who lost out on a medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Gillingham finished fourth in the 200m breaststroke behind the Russian Andrei Korneyev, who was then stripped of his bronze medal after testing positive for the banned substance, Bromantan.
The vials of human growth hormone found in the possession of a Chinese swimmer before the World Championships last month were not intended for use by the Chinese team, a member of the IOC medical panel said yesterday. The Chinese claimed they were for sale on the black market.
