The Jockeys' Association yesterday confirmed that championships are to revert to being decided on number of winners instead of prize-money won.
The association's secretary, Michael Caulfield, said: "The original decision was well-intentioned but it was subsequently felt that it would not achieve its aim to reduce the pressure on the leading riders and create opportunities for other jockeys. "We hope the association can be praised and not criticised for amending its original decision."
