Karolj Seles, the 63-year-old father and coach of tennis star Monica Seles, has had a recurrence of stomach cancer and began chemotherapy last month at the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester Minesota, the Seles family announced yesterday.

Jim Courier, the former world No 1, will play for the United States in the Davis Cup quarter-finals against the Netherlands in April, the US captain, Tom Gullikson, said yesterday. The remainder of the four-man squad is still undecided.
