Boris Becker will not be defending his ATP title in Frankfurt next week after a 7-6, 6-3 defeat by the Swede Magnus Gustafsson in the semi-finals of the European Community Championship yesterday cost him a qualifying berth. Becker was bidding for the last spot in the lucrative ATP finals, but his defeat put him out of the running.
