Grant Connell and Patrick Galbraith, the top seeds, were knocked out of the ATP world doubles finals at the Ellis Park indoor stadium, in Johannesburg, losing in the semi-finals to the Dutch pair, Jacco Eltingh and Paul Haarhuis. The Canadian-American combination had several break points after taking the first set but succumbed 7-5 in the third after losing the second-set tie-break.
