TIM HENMAN overcame Franco Squillari, of Argentina, 6-3, 6-3, to reach the third round of the German Open yesterday.
Squillari, who won his first tournament title at the Munich Open on Sunday , could do little against the impressive Henman, the fifth seed who had a bye into the second round of the clay court event. He now meets Arnaud di Pasquale of France.
Mariano Zabaleta, of Argentina, beat the German Open holder and sixth seed Albert Costa, of Spain, 7-5, 6-2.
The Czech Open tournament organisers said yesterday that Russia's Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Goran Ivanisevic of Croatia would not receive appearance money after their lacklustre first-round performances in last week's event.
