Greg Rusedski has held on to his No 4 world ranking despite bowing out of the Stella Artois tournament last week with a sprained ankle while Tim Henman has moved up one place from 18 to 17. This means that both British players will be among the Wimbledon seeds.

Sam Smith, the 26-year-old British No 1 from Essex, has jumped from 128 to 112 in the latest World Tennis Association rankings following her two victories in the DFS Classic at Birmingham last week. Smith beat the Australian Rachel McQuillan, ranked 63, and Sarah Pitkowski of France, ranked 47.
