With Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal both coming through their quarter-final tests at the Australian Open, one of the great sporting rivalries is set to reignite on Friday morning when the two players meet for the 33rd time.

Nadal currently boasts an impressive 22 victories to the Swiss grass-master's 10 in their head-to-head record and the Spaniard enters the match after a battling performance against Girgor Dimitrov in the quarter-finals.

But Federer, one of the true greats of the game and current all-time highest Grand Slam title winner, can never be written off even at this stage of his career and his three-sets-to-one victory over Andy Murray showed that he is still capable of putting in top-draw performances despite his age.

As we keep our fingers crossed for a great semi-final, we take a look at some of their most enthralling encounters over the years.
