Britain's Robson reaches Open final

Britain's Laura Robson is in the final of the junior girls' singles at the Australian Open after defeating top seed Noppawan Lertcheewakarn 6-4 6-3 in the semi-finals.

The match was delayed by around two hours because of the heat rule as temperatures peaked at around 44 degrees Celsius mid-afternoon in Melbourne.

When play did begin, the 15-year-old Briton got off to a slow start against the girl she defeated in the junior final at Wimbledon last year, going 3-0 down before rallying to take the first set.

She carried that momentum into the second, racing to a 4-0 lead as she got the double break on her Thai opponent.

Lertcheewakarn clawed a break back in the next game before dropping her serve for the third time to trail 5-1.

But she showed some fight to take the next game as Robson failed to serve out the match and then held her serve for a second time to get back to 5-3.

Robson however, made no mistake second time round, comfortably holding her serve to seal the match and a place in the final against third seed Ksenia Pervak, of Russia, who defeated second seed Ana Bogdan 6-1 6-3.
