Cilic injury puts Andy Murray into Queen's semi-finals

Andy Murray was today given a walkover into the semi-finals of the AEGON Championships after Marin Cilic withdrew from the tournament with an ankle injury.

Cilic pulled out before he was due to face the British number one and tournament second seed in today's quarter-final.

Murray will tomorrow play either Andy Roddick or Fernando Verdasco for a place in Sunday's final.

Roddick, a four-time champion at Queen's Club, won the first set of his quarter-final against the Spaniard 6-2.

James Ward reached the first ATP Tour quarter-final of his career after completing a three-set victory over defending champion Sam Querrery.

Ward, the world number 216, faced a one set shootout with Querrey after bad light had stopped play last night with the match tied at one set all.

The stoppage came at a useful time for Querrey, who was struggling with an arm injury and Ward had just levelled the third round clash at 3-6 6-3.

After torrential rain and thunderstorms had delayed the start of play, the match went with serve until Ward snared the crucial break to take a 4-3 lead.

Ward, who beat world number 14 Stanislas Wawrinka in the last round, overcame the nerves to serve out a 3-6 6-3 6-4 victory.

The 24-year-old is scheduled to face Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in the quarter-finals later today.

"It has been unbelievable," said Ward.

"The last two matches have been the best two wins of my career so far. You have got to be pleased with that."

The last time two British players reached the quarter-finals at Queen's was when Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski reached the last four in 2001.
