The Wimbledon Championships will continue to be held two weeks after the French Open for the next two years, although discussions are underway concerning changes to the calendar.
It had been suggested that the Australian Open might switch from the last two weeks of January to a new date in March, and that Wimbledon would allow an extra week for players to adjust from the slow clay courts to the faster grass surface. But the All England Club announced yesterday that the 2004 tournament is to be held from 21 June to 4 July and the 2005 event from 20 June to 3 July.
The dates for 2006 and beyond remain provisional while discussions continue.
