Pat Rafter's Australian Open tennis campaign is in serious doubt after he withdrew Tuesday from the Colonial Classic exhibition tournament to be staged at Kooyong from January 12 to 15.
Rafter, who is struggling to recover from shoulder surgery, will be replaced in the Colonial field by fellow Australian Davis Cup player Mark Philippoussis.
Rafter, the dual U.S. Open champion, has also pulled out of the AAPT Championships in Adelaide from January 3 to 9.
