Wimbledon 2013: Britain's Kyle Edmund makes winning start in boys' singles

On a big day for British tennis there was a winning start when Yorkshire's Kyle Edmund won his boys' singles match in straight sets against Korea's Young Seok Kim 6-4, 6-3.
It took only an hour for the powerful Edmund to win the first round match, overwhelming his opponent with big serves and powerful hitting.
Seeded fifth, the 18 year-old Edmund will now fancy his chances of progressing further. He gained confidence with his debut in the men's singles event, where he put up a strong performance last week in taking eight games off Jerzy Janowicz, the 24th seed.
At Eastbourne earlier he had defeated the world No 82 Kenny de Schepper - another man through to the last 16 here - and then lost on two tie-breaks to the world No 17 Gilles Simon.
In mixed doubles, Edmund teamed up with the reigning girls' champion Eugenie Bouchard of Canada to defeat Frederik Nielsen - a men's doubles finalist last year - and Sofia Arvidsson. He is also playing mixed doubles as a wild card with the girls' junior champion.
