The Wimbledon Championships achieved a record profit of £37.753m this year, the Lawn Tennis Association announced today. The figure, which is invested back into British tennis, marks a 7 per cent rise from last year's margin of £35.174m.
In a joint statement, the LTA president, Peter Bretherton, and chief executive, Roger Draper, underlined the importance of success at world level in strengthening the sport at its grass roots. They said: "Andy Murray's success is born out of hard work and determination, and he is an inspiring role model for youngsters."
