FORGET the New World Order, welcome to the New European Broom. In the Champions' Cup, Manchester United, the pride of the Premiership, take a Turkish bath, beaten by Galatasary on away goals after firing blanks in Istanbul. Eric Cantona adds insult to self-inflicted injury - the Reds were two goals in the black at Old Trafford - being sent off for swearing then accusing the referee of taking bribes.

Deportivo ambush Aston Villa in the Uefa Cup and Scottish interest dies, yet Norwich, glory be, bypass Bayern Munich. The biggest tremors, though, come courtesy of Arsenal, whose 7-0 win in Liege keeps the standard flying in the Cup-Winners' Cup.
