TOYOTA PULL OUT OF WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP
Motor racing
Toyota have announced they will not compete in the World Rally Championship for the next two years, but will return in 1998.
The largest one-day motor racing event in the world, the Indianapolis 500, faces competition from a rival event on the same day next year due to a dispute over the running of IndyCar racing. In opposition to the fledgling Indy Racing League which has taken control of the Indy 500, IndyCar has decided to hold its own event on 26 May - the same day as the famous race that attracts more than 400,000 fans.
