Flying start for Russia

Russia beat Japan 16-17 15-5 17-16 15-12 yesterday in the opening match of the preliminary round of the volleyball World League 1995, in front of 6,150 spectators at the Gifu Memorial Centre in central Japan. Players from 12 nations are competing in the World League in three groups.
