Ali Bacher, the managing director of the United Cricket Board of South Africa, has finally sanctioned Shaun Pollock's signing for Warwickshire, on the understanding that the 22-year-old all-rounder is not overworked.
Bacher's "gentleman's agreement" with Warwickshire's captain, Dermot Reeve, in East London this morning put the seal on Pollock's pounds 40,000 contract for next summer.
Pollock, who has impressed for South Africa during England's tour of the republic, will join the county champions in April if he passes a medical to be conducted by the UCBSA next week.
