West Indies make an impressive entrance
Zimbabwe 151-9 West Indies 155-4 (West Indies win by six wickets)
West Indies inflicted a crushing defeat on Zimbabwe in their World Cup Group A opener in Hyderabad yesterday.
Inspired by Curtly Ambrose, who took a wicket in each of his three spells and was named man of the match, West Indies restricted the Africans to 151 for 9 from their 50 overs.
Sherwin Campbell then played the anchor role with 47 as West Indies coasted to victory under the lights at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium. Brian Lara chipped in with 43 not out from 31 balls, including two sixes.
