BOXING Henry Wharton has been installed as the next official challenger to the European title holder, Frederic Seillier, of France, despite losing recently to Chris Eubank.

The Commonwealth super-middleweight champion from York was outpointed by Eubank in Manchester's World Boxing Organisation fight last month.

A win over Seillier would not only lift the European Boxing Union crown, but also put Wharton among the contenders for a version of the 12-stone title.

Seillier is currently No 1 in the World Boxing Council rankings and either he, or the American Gerald McClellan, will be the next opponent for the WBC champion, Nigel Benn, at the London Arena on 25 February.
