Winter Olympics: Bosnian bobsleigh team
The European Commission has donated two state-of-the-art bobsleds and uniforms to the Bosnian team competing in the Winter Olympic Games in Nagano. The two-man and four-man sleds were delivered earlier this month and the Bosnians tried them out in a World Cup competition in Winterberg, Germany.
Since the war in the former Yugoslavia ended in December 1995, the Bosnian team has had to race in outdated, borrowed or rented bobsleds. The team won a silver medal in the 1997 America's Cup race in Lake Placid, New York, using a borrowed bobsled.
