Competition: Win up to £1,000

Write an article for the Technology Horizons Award on the difference technology can make to the future of the planet and be amongst the nominations to win up to £1,000!

What with James Dyson talking about the importance of engineering for a sustainable future in our feature interview, and the article on Helen Bailey's vegeblocks in our Focus section, you've had ample opportunity to read about the importance of looking after our environment in this issue of Future. However, now's your chance to write about it and win a bit of cash into the bargain!

The Independent, Bosch and The Royal Academy of Engineering have teamed up again on the Technology Horizons Award, which gives 14- to 24-year-olds the opportunity to have their work printed in The Independent and win cash prizes of up to £1,000. If you enjoy writing and want to spread the word about how great engineering is, what are you waiting for?

HOW TO WIN

Entrants are split into two age groups: 14- to18-year-olds and 19- to 24-year-olds. The challenge is to write a 500 or 750 word article that answers this question:

Ecology and technology - how can modern technologies protect the environment? The most interesting, original and thought-provoking articles will be in the money. The closing date is 30 March 2007.
