Liverpool student who posted picture of homeless man's handwritten CV on Twitter gets 'massive' response

Post has been retweeted almost 3,000 times in under two days as job offers come in

‘I’m sick of wasting away now’ – not the typical way anyone would start their CV, but that’s exactly how one young, homeless man started his in a last-ditch attempt to find work.

20-year-old Jordan Lockett scribbled-down his plea for employment and passed it onto 18-year-old student, Aaron O’Dwyer, as he walked past after attending an interview.

After giving Jordan £5, the young man – who was sitting in Liverpool’s Bold Street with a stack of the handwritten CVs – insisted Aaron take one of the pieces of paper in the hope he would somehow get noticed for a job.

Moved by Jordan’s plea, Aaron posted a picture of the CV onto his Twitter page – and it quickly went viral, so far having been retweeted close to 3,000 times.

Speaking with the Liverpool Echo, Aaron – who will be heading to Liverpool John Moores University to study journalism after the summer – said he’s been completely taken aback by the reaction to his post.

Surprised that Jordan was close to his age – and the fact that he had some 15-20 handwritten CVs on him – Aaron added: “I thought that if I mentioned it, someone might know him or someone might offer him some help – the reaction has been amazing.”

Since the tweet was posted, Jordan’s brother and sister have been in touch with him and he’s been offered an interview with a local restaurant and rendering business, reports Metro.co.uk.

I’m sick of wasting away now,

I’m always being told to go to homeless centre’s but there not helping,

I think it’s because they need a job for one and because I’m young and fit and no dependencies I’m on the bottom of the priority list but it’s killing my mental health.

I write my C.V.’s like this because I don’t have anything to put on it,

I worked as a motorbike mechanic for 2 years but that was from the start of year 9 to the end of high school on a course and my boss stopped picking me up 2ish weeks before I was supposed to finnish and left me with no grades or experience proof.

Very fast learner and hard worker.

Can I afford not to be?
