A high school teacher who drew a large penis across one of her student’s class assignments has since apologised for doing so and has been allowed to remain in her post.

Kim Juzdowski, a language and arts teacher at Chapin High School in El Paso, Texas, decided to take the bold step as a way of ‘disciplining’ the male pupil - who has not been named - for not doing anything in class, according to ABC-7 News.

An image of the drawing came to light when the student posted it onto social media where it was spotted by his ‘shocked’ mother, Sandra Green, who told ABC-7 she ‘didn’t want to believe it’.

Green said she emailed Juzdowski to complain about her actions and that she admitted to drawing it, adding: “She admitted to embarrassing the children rather than punishing them.”

The teacher then reportedly apologised, adding she ‘totally understands’ if Green wanted to have her son moved to another school, which Green said she does. However, the process could take more than a month.

Green accused the school of being too forgiving because of the teacher’s gender and said: “If it was a man teacher doing it to a female student, they would have taken this totally serious.”

Juzdowski has many positive comments listed under her name on the website Rate My Teachers. However, one student review says: “She’s fun and all but tries way too hard to be ‘one of the guys’.”

ABC-7 said it reached out to Juzdowski for comment but that she declined to do so through her attorney. However, Green said El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) said the teacher would not be removed because she admitted to the incident.

In a statement to The Huffington Post, an EPISD spokesperson said the teacher understands the drawing ‘was in bad taste’, adding that she also acknowledged it was ‘inappropriate’ for the type of relationship a teacher should have with a student.
