Apple has revealed the Watch SE, a new and cheaper version of its wearable.

Traditionally, the company has just continued to sell its older devices at a cheaper price.

But for the first time it introduced a specific version made to come at a lower price, named the Apple Watch SE.

In the UK, the Apple Watch SE begins at £269, with the cellular version costing £319.  The new Series 6, announced at the same time, starts at £379.

It follows the release earlier this year of the second version of iPhone SE. That put the latest components inside of an older design, but the new Watch SE has the latest design with slightly less powerful internal components.

It comes in the same size, can use the same bands, and includes the same display as the more expensive version, for example. It can also use most of the newest features, such as its Noise app for detecting loud environments and its fall detection for spotting when someone might need help.

But it has a slightly slower processor, and does not include the blood oxygen sensor that is the marquee feature of the Series 6.
