Bang With Friends bounces back into the app store as 'Down'

Previously banned for being “excessively objectionable or crude”, Down returns to join the jostling market of casual-sex apps

After being unceremoniously booted from the iOS App Store last May for violating the terms and conditions, the Facebook-integrated casual-sex app Bang With Friends has returned to iPhones.

The concept behind the app has now become somewhat old hat with the likes of Tinder and Pure: you view profiles anonymously (in this case based on your Facebook friends) and if both individuals signal an ‘interest’ in the other then contact details are exchanged.

Although it was originally rejected for being “excessively objectionable or crude”, the app’s creators protested, insisting that they simply enable “consenting adults to safely discover people who are mutually attracted in a fun and honest way.”

In a small mark of deference to Apple’s policies however, the re-launched app has been renamed ‘DOWN’, with an official press release explaining this excessively cryptic title: “as in "Down to Bang", the simple and honest action that unlocks your friends with benefit”.

The newly-named ‘DOWN’ also offers a softer option for friends who want to get to know each other better before anything more happens: “If you're more interested or comfortable with saying you're "Up for Hang"ing with your friend instead of saying "I'm Down" (to bang) with your friend, you can say so!”
