The BBC has launched a new download feature which means people can store programmes from the iPlayer on to their phone or tablet and watch them later without an internet connection.

Shows can be downloaded free, kept for up to 30 days and watched anywhere. The feature is available on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices and will be introduced to Android devices later this year.

Daniel Danker, general manager for programmes and on-demand for the BBC, said viewers could fill up their devices and take programmes with them on holiday.
