The 83rd annual Academy Awards took place on Sunday, February 27 and microbloggers around the globe are using their 140 characters to post about the winners and losers of the night.
"#SatisfyingWin" is promoted in first place but microbloggers are using the term to congratulate Oscar winners.
The name of legendary actor and film producer "Kirk Douglas" is in fifth place as Twitterers applaud the Hollywood veteran for his on-stage antics as he presented the award for Best Supporting Actress to Melissa Leo.
Twitter users are tweeting about Australian actress Cate Blanchett's choice of dress for the Academy Awards, saying "Cate Blanchett is wearing Givenchy haute couture. This is art, but do U love it?," "That's it: Best overall is Cate Blanchett. Amazing in Givenchy and her haircut is unreal" and "I'd like to thank Cate Blanchett for wearing my grandmother's chair."
Microbloggers are also saying that their favorite moment of the 83rd annual Academy Awards was when "Billy Crystal" made a cameo halfway through the show.
Second, third and fourth places in Twitter's most talked about topics are taken by the hashtags "#twitterpetpeeve," "#iwasthekid" and "#souljaboytweet."
The name of American comedy " Major Payne" is in sixth place, "Union Budget" is in seventh place and the name of fishing commentator and Christchurch "quake predictor" "Ken Ring" is in eighth place.
