Elon Musk posts video of demo Starlink internet satellites deploying

SpaceX founder Elon Musk has posted stunning video of two Starlink satellites deploying, ready to test out the future of space internet.

The kit was carried up to space by the Falcon 9 rocket launched yesterday. The actual purpose of the mission was to deliver a radar satellite that will give stunningly precise views of the Earth – but while up above the Earth, the rocket also dropped off two important experiments.

The pair of satellites, called Tintin A & B, can be seen floating away from the craft as they leave and head into space.

The company hopes these satellites will be the first of many that will supply internet access to anywhere on the planet. Proponents of the satellite-powered internet hope that it can be used to beam down connections to people who wouldn't otherwise be able to connect to networks because they're so remote or distant.
