Facebook down: Site stops working properly but users find fix for website and app issues
Facebook has stopped working for some of its users.
But there appears to be a fix: logging out and back into the site seems to make it work, at least for some of those affected.
Affected users also found they had been automatically logged out, but that the site worked as normal once they logged in again.
Vast number of people were affected by the issues, according to tracking website Down Detector. But they did not appear to be hitting all users of the site.
Problems were particularly present in the north east of the US, though were being reported across the world, according to the same site.
Facebook's official platform status page, which tracks outages for developers who use the site's tools, said that the site was working healthily. But the page is often slow to react to even major outages, and does not always reflect smaller ones at all.
The company has had a series of problems over 2019, which saw it hit with some of its longest and most widespread outages ever.
Occasionally, those problems also hit other Facebook-owned platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp. But the latest problems do not appear to be affecting those apps.
