Fisher-Price will later this month unveil a baby-proof iPhone cover

The rubberised cover, called an "Apptivity Case", is designed to allow the baby to get to grips with the ubiquitous technology, but also to protect the gadget from damage.

The case comes with chunky handles and rattles attached. Deborah Weber, of Fisher-Price, said: "Babies love to copy mum and dad. It's all part of learning about the world they live in. As technology becomes a bigger part of everyday life, it makes sense that even the youngest members of the family are interested in taking part too.

"The Apptivity case provides a safe way for babies to play and learn from baby-friendly apps without worry of them breaking the phone."

The new case will be unveiled at the Earls Court Baby Show, which will take place from October 28-30.
