Former Apple employee Sam Sung auctions his business card for charity
Bids have exceeded $80,000 (although Mr Sung admits these may be hoaxes)
A former Apple employee named Sam Sung is selling his business card on eBay, using the unusual union of the tech rivals to raise money for charity.
Mr Sung thought that his business card, which marks him out as “Sam Sung specialist” was unusual enough to warrant a small auction given the iPhone manufacturer’s long-standing rivalry with its South Korean rival.
“With a view to raising money for a very deserving charity, I'm auctioning the only “Apple Sam Sung” business card I have left and I'm going to donate ALL of the proceeds [minus eBay fees] to Children's Wish, BC & Yukon - a not-for-profit that grants wishes to sick children,” wrote Mr Sung on the eBay auction.
The business card comes with Mr Sung’s branded uniform in framed case and is signed by the former Apple employee.
Bids for the item have now exceeded over $80,000 (£47,000) although these are likely to be fake, with Mr Sung saying he is working with eBay to rule out the hoax bids.
This symbol of (unintentional) cooperation between the two companies comes at an opportune time, with Apple and Samsung announcing this week that they had called a truce on all court battles regarding patents outside the US.
