Game of Thrones might be this year's must watch show. But for some Now TV users, it's also a can't watch show.

Fans are reporting that they're unable to actually see their favourite TV show becuase of a problem with an update to the service that stopped it working on some computers.

Now TV, made by Sky, is the only way to legitimately watch the programme in the UK without taking out a full Sky subscription. As a result, many people have signed up to watch the show as it moves towards its climax – more than 11 million people downloaded previous episodes through Now TV, according to a press release, and many more watch it live when it's on.

But they were left unable to actually do so when the programme didn't show after it came out early on Monday morning. The problem appears limited to people watching Now TV on their laptops and computers – not on the box that can be bought to hook up to the TV, or on other products.

Now TV staff have indicated that it is "aware of the issue that is causing frustration for a lot of customers". It hopes "to have a fix ready soon", according to a post on the forum.

It didn't indicate whether the problem would be fixed before next week, when this series comes to an end.

The problem appears to be specifically related to one video card: the Intel HD Graphics 3000, according to a post by a staff member on the Now TV forum. That component was notably used in some version of the MacBook Pro, meaning that the problem is being largely reported by people with Apple laptops.

It also means that the issue is confined only to the video – leaving one person to write on Twitter, "NOW TV updated app now only get sound no picture so useless. That's called RADIO."
