'GoldenEye' remake goes HD

The iconic N64 shooter GoldenEye is at last to receive a high definition upgrade, as 2010's GoldenEye on Wii becomes 2011's GoldenEye 007: Reloaded on 360 and PS3.

The remake is expected to follow the Wii version's lead, replacing Pierce Brosnan with current Bond actor Daniel Craig and similarly modernizing other characters.

Traditional four-player split-screen action is retained and augmented by a 16-player online mode that also boasts an increase in maps, modes, weapons and characters.

PlayStation has also snagged Move compatibility for those who want to use motion controls this time around.

The conversion is being handled by Eurocom, the same studio that made GoldenEye 007 for the Wii, while publishers Activision are looking at a fall 2011 release.

One possibility would be an early-to-mid October date for Reloaded, to try and destabilize Battlefield 3's debut.

Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has November 8 staked out for its own worldwide launch.
