The ninth annual Imagine Cup Awards Ceremony will be broadcast on the web on July 13 live from the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York.

The event is the world’s number-one student technology competition. It attracts around 350,000 high school and university students each year from around the world in the pursuit of innovative technology and fresh new ideas.

"The webcast enables people from around the world to share in the excitement and emotion of the culmination of the yearlong competition," said Microsoft.

This year's competition has revolved around the theme of "Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems," and students have been busy working on imaginative inventions that might one day change the world we live in.

A total of 424 finalists have traveled to New York to participate in the Imagine Cup 2011 Worldwide Finals, which are held from July 8 to 13.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, actress Eva Longoria and a host of Microsoft executives will be present during the awards ceremony on July 13 to present the winning students with their awards.

The live webcast will be shown on http://imaginecup.com/ on July 13 from 4-7pm EDT.
