Instagram restored after brief outage for thousands of US users
More than 10,000 users weren’t able to access Instagram during the outage, according to Downdetector
Instagram has been restored after a brief outage that affected thousands of users in the United States.
The number of users reporting outages began to rapidly rise at around 8 p.m. ET, according to monitoring site Downdetector.
At around 8:30 p.m., more than 10,000 users weren’t able to access Instagram, Downdetector’s data shows.
The number of reported outages subsided by around 9 p.m.
The vast majority of reported problems were associated with Instagram’s website rather than the app.

The Independent has contacted Instagram for comment and confirmation.
On sites including X, users posted screenshots of an error message they said they got when trying to use the platform, which read, “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”
“Insta just exploded or something,” content creator Nikki Cupcake wrote on X. “Give me back my IG feed *shakes fist to the sky*.”
