KSI explains why boxing rematch with Logan Paul is taking a long time

KSI has addressed continuing rumours about a rematch between him and fellow YouTube star Logan Paul – suggesting that the fight could take much longer than fans think.

But he did appear to put a date on the event, though one much further away than the February 2019 date that has been repeatedly rumoured.

A rematch has been on the cards ever since the first fight ended, with the location this time due to switch to Logan Paul's home of the US, but the British vlogger said that a number of troubles are standing in its way.

Those include finding ways of stopping people pirating the stream and illegally watching the fight live, KSI said. Piracy is thought to have been a significant problem with the last event: though it was legitimately streamed for a fee on YouTube, huge numbers of people are thought to have watched broadcasts on other platforms.

KSI said this time the organisers would be working "on protection and the legal things when it comes to streaming", and that the delays in doing so were one of the many reasons that the two vloggers had not yet fought each other already.

As well as problems with piracy, KSI said that a host of administrative problems were getting in the way of organising the fight. Those include picking a location in the US, ensuring that the legal situation is clear in whatever state is chosen, and ensuring that the fight could be properly distributed.

Since the event will be happening in Logan Paul's own country, the responsibility has been placed on him, KSI said. But he suggested that not enough had yet been done to press ahead with the fight.

But he also said that he would make the most of the extra time the delay has caused to continue making YouTube videos, and to get closer with his family. That may be a reference to an ongoing and public argument between him and his brother, a YouTube user known as Deji, which both have addressed in videos.

KSI said he hoped the fight would happen in November 2019, which he said would be the "perfect time".
