Sony has redesigned its Sony Walkman music player to meet the needs of active, sweaty, and sports loving consumers.

The new NWZ-W250 W-Series Walkman is a wearable music player that eliminates the problem of dangling wires so you can focus on running your next marathon instead of worrying about getting tangled in your headphone cables.

Sony have modified their existing W Series Walkman - a device which fuses a MP3 player with headphones - to create a sportier, water resistant next generation model.

The new compact MP3 player won't turn its nose up at a little bit of your sweat (but it might appreciate a post-workout shower if you are going to get it all sweaty) with its water-resistant coating.

Swimwear and accessory brand Speedo previously released a compact, water-poof MP3 player called the Speedo Aquabeat - a music player that can safely be immersed in up to 3 meters (10 feet) of water.

Those interested in turning their existing MP3 players into waterproof music devices can have a look at a site called http://www.waterproofmusic.com/.

The W-Series Walkman comes in 2GB and 4GB versions (NWZ-W252 and NWZ-W253 respectively) and will be available in late May 2010. No pricing information has been released.
