Netflix users have complained they were unable to access the popular video streaming site.

When some users visited Netflix, they were greeted with the message: "We were unable to process your request. Please go to the Netflix home page by clicking the button below" instead of the usual list of recommended videos.

Underneath that message was a button directing users to the homepage.

Netflix users, likely worried they will no longer be able to binge-watch their favourite TV programmes, have taken to Twitter to complain.

Downdetector.co.uk, a website which monitors if popular websites are working, said that 643 people reported a Netflix outage at around 7pm (BST). However, the website appears to be running again as reports have returned to a normal level.

Netflix has not yet confirmed whether the site was down for some people. The Independent has contacted Netlfix, and is awaiting a resposne.
