The new OnePlus 5 restarts itself when you try to call emergency services, a user of the phone has claimed.

The apparent glitch is being discussed by OnePlus 5 owners online, and has been demonstrated in a video posted on Facebook too.

In the clip, the phone switches itself off and back on again after the user dials 911.

It’s a worrying issue, and OnePlus has said that its “whole team” is working on fixing it.

“We have contacted the customer and are currently looking into the issue,” the company told the Independent.

“We ask anyone experiencing a similar situation to contact us at support@oneplus.net,” it added.

“I had to dial 911 on my OP5 yesterday (saw a building on fire a few blocks away) and both times I tried my phone rebooted on me,” Redditor Seattle_Horn wrote earlier today.

“Has anyone else experienced this?”

Another user replied to the update, claiming she managed to replicate the issue in the UK.

“Just tried this with mine in the UK (checked over the radio to the police control room first of it was okay, we have a radio at work for the police) and it did the same thing, this is not a good thing for Oneplus,” wrote Blueeyedfoxie.

Some people are speculating that the issue is linked to the handset’s GPS, reports The Next Web.

OnePlus hasn't yet revealed the specific cause of the problem, but is expected to share more details when it's been fixed.

The OnePlus 5 has, otherwise, been highly impressive, competing with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7 despite costing much less than them.
