PS4 latest: Possible 13 November release date, new interface video

Details continue to emerge for Sony's new console

Although it might be another presumptuous misstep by retailers, one Dutch shop is listing the PS4’s release date as Wednesday November 13. A poster advertising this date was spotted on NeoGAF and then flagged up on CVG.

As they note, if the November 13 date is correct then it would mean the PS4 would launch after the release of its major franchise titles – including Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts and Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag.

Other news from Sony has included a video trailer detailing its new interface system. The advert shows how pressing the PlayStation logo in the centre of the console will allow players to switch in and out of live games to share clips, chat with friends, or download new titles.

The video (below) also showed that when downloading new games, players can pick between starting with the single player or the multiplayer portion. Content shared by friends can also be liked a la Facebook.

More details have also surfaced regarding PlayStation Plus – Sony’s premium subscription service for the console. A video from the PlayStation access team ran through known features of the Plus service including the continuation of PS3 memberships over onto the new console and further access to the ICG (the Instant Games Collection that offers free download of classic titles).

The video from Access confirmed that a free version of Driveclub would be the first digital download title, with this game being switched once a month to “ensure a regular supply of new gaming.” Though as PlayStation Plus is now a requirement for multiplayer online then we would accept some form of compensation.

But with a year’s membership costing £39.99 and free downloads including such titles as Uncharted 3, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, XCOM and Demon’s Souls this doesn’t seem like an unfair deal.
