A rare Leica camera was sold to an anonymous buyer for a world record £1.7m at auction in Vienna yesterday.

The Leica 0-Series camera is believed to be one of 25 produced in 1923 as test pieces for the 35mm film market. Only 12 of them are known to have survived.
