Messaging app Snapchat is down across Britain, with many users reporting the app keeps crashing.

Hundreds of users took to social media to complain the app was not working on Wednesday evening.

Snapchat said on Twitter it was aware of issues and was working to resolve them. It did not specify why the app appeared to be crashing for many users.

We're aware many Snapchatters are experiencing crashing on the app,” The company tweeted:” We're looking into it and working on a fix!”

Some users have reported the bug is only affecting Android devices. However, Snapchat has not confirmed that this is the case.

Snapchat has given no timeline for when it expects the issues to be fixed.

The outages in service come the day after Snapchat announced it was rolling out a new “lens explorer” for app users.

The feature, which is due to be launched first on iOS devices, will allow users to browse thousands of lenses created by the app in recent months.
