Summer Apple blockbuster? Steve Jobs biopic starring Ashton Kutcher set for release in August

The Steve Jobs biopic starring Ashton Kutcher is being rushed out by studios as the iOS interface the Apple founder pioneered changes forever.

The film JOBS, due to be released in August in the US, follows Jobs’ ascension from college dropout to one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of the 20th century.

JOBS promises to “plunge into the depths of his character, creating an intense dialogue-driven story that is much a sweeping epic as it is an immensely personal portrait of Steve Jobs’ life,” according to production company Open Road Films.

Set between 1971 and 2001, the film will also detail the major movements and defining characters that influenced Jobs on a daily basis, including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, played by Josh Gad (The Daily Show, Ice Age: Continental Drift).

Written by newcomer screenwriter Matt Whiteley and directed by Joshua Michael Stern, JOBS stars Dermot Mulroney, Amanda Crew, J K Simmons, Lukas Haas and Lesley Ann Warren in the role of Jobs’ adoptive mother Clara.

The film is set to hit cinemas on 16 August.

Yesterday Apple released details of an iOS 7 design revamp - the first to be overseen by design chief Jony Ive.

Jobs died of cancer in October 2011.
