According to ELSPA and Chart-Track GfK's figures, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was the best selling PlayStation 3 game in the UK, just as in the Xbox 360 and the multi-format chart of the year. Console ownership in the UK approaches a middleground between the USA, where the Xbox 360 dominates, and mainland Europe, which favors the PlayStation 3.

The Call of Duty domination trend continues, in common with the 360 and all format charts; the PlayStation 3 best sellers include Activision's two other most recent Call of Duty games: Call of Duty 4, by the same developers Infinity Ward, and World at War, by the series' other developers Treyarch.

Like Modern Warfare 2, FIFA 10 was another title that held the same position in more than one chart, placing second in the Xbox 360 and multi-format charts as well. FIFA 09 took 13th place. Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 was absent from the Xbox 360 top 20 but here placed 12th.

Sony saw a strong turnout for its own system sellers with the exclusive titles Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, and LittleBigPlanet all appearing within the PS3 top 10. Infamous and Resistance 2 are also exclusive to the system.

Five of the top 20 were released during October or later in 2009's busy fourth quarter: FIFA 10, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Pro Evolution Soccer 2010, Modern warfare 2 and Assassin's Creed II. Killzone 2 was released in February, while LittleBigPlanet's popularity stems back to November 2008.
