During the week of December 21, the Asia Game Show will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Approximately 500,000 people are expected to attend the event that draws consumers and videogame enthusiasts from across the globe.

Half a million people are expected to check out the latest advances to come out of the world of gaming. The Chinese industry alone is worth 26 billion yuan (€2.6 billion) and so organizers are tempting consumers also with live competitions, giveaways and (of course) the "cosplay'' kings and queens who likes to dress up as their favorite fantasy characters.

Over 100 worldwide tournament locations have been officially registered as venues for the 48-hour game-making frenzy, where competitors are organized into adhoc teams before attempting to churn out one of the best games of the tournament. The top entries are then put forward for March's prestigious Game Developers Conference in San Diego.
