The top free application by country* for the week, by number of downloads, recorded on April 19:

1. US
Top 100s By Year by Bing (music)

Top 100s By Year by Bing is a music application designed to help promote Microsoft's search engine, Bing. The app provides access to thousands of hit songs, organized by the "top ten" best songs per year from 1947 to 2009. Consumers can stream songs by artists like Justin Timberlake, Pink, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Green Day via WiFi, Edge or 3G. The application also includes an integrated search engine so users can search the web for more information on the artists. The app is ad-supported and frequently reminds users to download Microsoft Bing for iPhone app.

2. UK
Got Talent (entertainment)

The Got Talent application is a portal to extra video footage, backstage footage, and fan-related content from the UK's hit TV show, "Britain's Got Talent." Consumers can browse through news and pictures, catch up on some of the show highlights, and see what happens after the TV cameras stop rolling. Facebook, Twitter and email integration enable users to share content with their friends and to "thumbs up" content they like.

The Simpsons Arcade FREE (games)

The Simpsons Arcade FREE is a one-level teaser for the full platform game made by Electronic Arts Inc. Homer chases after a stolen donut in this animated punch-‘em-up arcade game. Players use the on-screen buttons to make Homer hit, kick, punch, belly-flop-on, butt-slam and throw objects whilst trying to kill (or avoid) the nasty donut-stealing enemies. The game also includes sound effects, music and original voices from the hit animated TV series.

Budding movie-makers can use the ReverseCamera application to play back their videos in reverse. Users shoot the video from within the application and then can play it backwards using the "play" button on screen. 3GS users also have the option of importing videos from their library and converting them into a backwards video. Additional features include the ability to play the movie frame by frame, set a user-defined frame rate, export the movies into your library, edit the film within the app, and to send the films via email.

Super Laser Lite (games)

Super Laser Lite is a vertical shooter that will remind you of classic arcade shooting games. Players control their spaceship with the invisible on-screen touch controls, shooting at any oncoming enemies and picking up super-powered weapons. The Lite version is a preview for the soon-to-be-released Super Laser game and it is doing a good job of convincing consumers to be on the lookout for the full-fledged game.

10. Netherlands
Auditorium (games)

Auditorium is a music-themed puzzle game where players attempt to compose "a harmonic convergence of color, light and music." To create sounds and move from the initial grayscale levels to screens of vibrant colors, players must guide particles through a series of filters ("audio containers") using touch-based gestures and arrows to attract, repel or deflect the white stream of particles. The beautifully designed game comes with 25 levels. In-application purchases extend the game play, with additional acts and new themes.
