Pope Francis was forced to bring his motorcade to a dramatic halt in Chile when a police officer fell off her horse.

Shortly after a mass in Iquique, the popemobile swerved quickly out of the way as a rearing horse stumbled onto the road.

Calmly leaving the vehicle, the pontiff stood by the officer's side until an ambulance arrived.
